Many many years ago, there was a very romantic and well hidden stretch of beach in Port Dickson called the “Blue Lagoon”. It used to be the best destination for those who know. This stretch of beach is off road which means it cannot be seen by anyone who is driving through and all the indication was a small sign board by the road junction. As there was no major crowd, the water was clear and the sea is always calm because as the name suggested, it was a Lagoon, well protected by the surroundings.
From Blue lagoon, we can track to a road that leads up to the infamous Tanjung Tuan Lighthouse from where if you look down you can see a whirlpool that has claimed many small and unknowing boats. It was such a beautiful place with mother nature show piecing at it’s best.
Unfortunately, as what Mother nature has provided, humankind sets out to destroy for their own selfish benefits. Before long, Resorts and Holiday bangalows sprouted up like mushrooms after a night if rainfall. Sand and debris was washed into the sea during the ruthless invasion of Heavy Equipments used for the construction of those mammoth concrete monsters. It was not before long that the whole of Blue Lagoon lost it’s entire natural charm.
There no longer a white sandy beach. Instead what we see now is a stretch of brownish sand, contaminated by all the mud flow during the construction of all those luxurious buildings. Gone too are the natural surroundings, the trees and bushes not to mention the clear blue sea.
Blue Lagoon is blue no more.
It’s sad. Humans spent hundreds of thousands, millions even just to get to stay in a near paradise where the air is fresh and the sea is clear. How is it that they are so stupid to destroy what they have initially spent millions on? They envisioned a palace in the sky when they were building their dream house. They dreamed of getting up every morning to the chirping of the birds, the smell of pure fresh air and the sounds of the white tides rushing to shore.
What they get now is just a building among other buildings. What they hear now might be stray dogs rummaging at the unmanaged garbage bins. What they smell now might be the leftovers of last night’s party goers. What the see now will be rubbish being washed pitifully to shore with the murky waters.
And this is all their own doing.
