If you are planning to stay over at Port Dickson over this weekend, I suggest you save your money and time for some other time. All hotels and resorts in Port Dickson have been fully booked since the announcement of the Bagan Pinang by-elections was made.
Situated right smack in the midst of all the popular destinations, Kawasan Bagan Pinang strecthes from the Corus Paradise Hotel right up to the popular 8th. Mile beach. So you can imagine the amount of activities going on these few days. Coupled with the still exploitable Hari Raya Open house excuse, it is creamah days and ceramah nights from both the Parties.
With all the big wigs in town, ball carriers lurks every where they go. Not wanting to miss out on any opportunities, they have booked themselves for at least 3 nights prior to the actual election date which is this Sunday, (11-10-09)
Whoever wins will be known by that night, but the biggest winners now are all the restaurants situated along that stretch of Port Dickson beach road. All my restauranteur friends have reported that business have been brisk with late night ceramah goers dropping in for super till the wee hours. And they are big spenders, coming in luxury cars and ordering the best food available. Price is not a criteria here. Seems like they are having a ball of a time.
Even Port Dickson town, where the action is not suppose to be in as it is away from the Kawasan, is seeing a boom, what with more than 2000 police officials from various units stationed right in the center of town. Though camping out in tents on a vacant land where the future Duty Free Zone of Port Dickson will be built, those guys are pampered with Air Conditioned tents and five good meals.
So if you want to see some action in Port Dickson over this weekend, be prepared for some traffic jams. make it a day trip as I doubt you will be able to find any rooms in Port Dickson this weekend. However if you must stay over, bring along your camping and barbecue gears. Beaches in Port Dickson do make a good camping ground for a night after a good barbecue.
