Port Dickson is easily accessible by road from any part of the country. If you are travelling from the capital city, taking the Federal highway is the best and fastest way though not the cheapest considering the price of the tolls these days. For those who do not mind a longer ride, taking the old trunk road is equally enjoyable though road conditions in some parts may not be as comfortable. However you save quite a bit on tolls.
Another road that leads to Port Dickson that will save you nearly half the toll fares is to exit at the Nilai junction and from there travel via the old road exiting in Sepang before heading for the small town called Lukut.
For those who prefers the highway, make sure you exit in Seremban, before entering the Seremban- Port Dickson Highway. The road signs showing the exit points can be quite confusing. For those who want to travel to Port Dickson Town first to do some shopping before heading for the beach, should lookout for the exit to Lukut. Travelling to Port Dickson town via Lukut will save you considerable travelling time.
Port Dickson Beach locations are referred to by miles from Port Dickson Town. So if the place you are heading is referred to as 4th mile, Port Dickson, then it means it is situated 4 miles from Port Dickson Town. The most popular spot of day tourist is of course the 8th mile. This is where most of the action is.
Now for those who are taking the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway, if you intend to go anywhere before the 5th mile, make sure you take the second exit after the one to Lukut. It will be a “+” junction. Turn right and you will see army camps on both sides. Drive until you come to the main Coast Road. Turn right if your destination is below the 5th mile. Turn left if you intend to head further up.
If you are heading for the 8th mile and above, travel the full distance of the highway where you will come to a roundabout. Take left, at 9 o’clock and you will immediately see a Chinese Temple on your left. keep going for another mile or so and you will reach the most popular stretch of beach in Port Dickson.
